Independent Reading Novel - Whale Talk

The book I am reading this trimester is called Whale  Talk. It has 298 pages. The book was published in 2001 and is a realistic fiction novel. My favorite genre is realistic fiction so I look forward to read this book. I chose this book because it is a realistic fiction book and it is related to sports and I love reading  books that are related to sports. Other realistic fiction books I have read are Lunch Money and Frindle.

Chris Cruthcher, the author of the book, has written many books for young adults. Most of the protagonists in his books are teenage athletes. Whale Talk is also meant for young adults and also has a protagonist who is a teenage athlete.

I haven't gotten too far in the book but looking at the front and back covers, I can tell I will like this book. The book is about a 12th grader who is about to start a swim team for his school, but the problem is, his school doesn't have a swimming pool. It will be interesting to find out how his newly formed swim team will survive in a school dominated by football and basketball.

Please keep reading my blogs to find out more about this interesting book!
